Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a text informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
Late For Your Appointment
Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
We do understand that it may be difficult to get through but we are working very hard to answer your calls quickly. Should the telephone message advise you that you are held in a queue, please hold the line and your call will be answered, in order, as soon as a receptionist is available.
If you have booked a telephone consultation, a clinician will assess your case over the telephone and advice will be given.
We try to run our clinics on time, but occasionally they do overrun. Please assist us by attending your appointment on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you may not be seen.
Our Appointments
We offer a range of telephone and face to face appointments that can be booked on the day or up to 4 weeks in advance.
GP Extended Hours
Evening and weekend appointments
Evening and weekend appointments are available at the Buckhurst Way Clinic, IG 10 6HP. You may be offered an appointment here via your eConsult request.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
Interpreter
If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.
Chaperone
Please ask at reception or inform the doctor or nurse if you require a chaperone. Additionally, the clinician may request a chaperone. Our chaperones may be a member of the reception or admin team, however they have all received appropriate training.
If the clinician requests a chaperone, but you would rather a chaperone was not present, you will be offered the choice of booking an appointment with an alternative clinician.
Try the NHS App
If you’re a patient at our practice, you can use the NHS App to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.
It doesn’t replace existing services. You can still contact us in the usual ways.
But, once you have verified your identity in the app, you will have easy, 24/7 access to a growing range of health services and information. You can:
- order repeat prescriptions
- access NHS 111 online
- find NHS services
- view your health records
- book appointments
- and much more…
If you have any problems using the NHS App, you can select ‘help’ in the top right-hand corner of the app or visit nhs.uk/helpmeapp.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible.
If you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice the GP will arrange for you to be seen at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. The visit may be by the appropriate clinician.
If you are already under the care of the community nurse then you can call them direct on 0300 123 5433.
